I don’t quite recall the moment that I chose courage over fear; yet making that choice has largely defined my life.
Perhaps it was the decision to jump, at 13 or Dad’s death at 17; or perhaps somewhere along the train tracks in the middle.
No matter.
For it wasn’t until I had to let my beloved go that I had to confront the truth: that courage only exists because of fear.
And that therefore, for people like us, there is no choice: but to keep fighting.
